started ?????

If you are really serious about wanting to start your own daycare then the first thing that I would suggest is that you start with looking up the site of the state that you live in. There are many states that have grant programs for daycare only because the need is so great.

You are going to have to decide whether or not you want to operate your daycare as a non-profit, for-profit or a combination of both.

I also suggest that you get your self a business plan. Why? Because there are start-up business grant programs as well.

Today, grants are available for public and private organizations, including faith-based organizations.

Other school districts also received grant funds, as did an after-school program.

In total, the grants, funded through the program, will award more than $4 million to 25 community learning centers. The grants given to this year's 24 recipients range in amounts from more than $299,000 to $75,000. The funds will be used to "establish and expand academic enrichment activities in after-school programs."

Most funds were awarded to organizations in high-poverty areas and to low-performing schools in both rural and urban communities.

The grants also fund literacy and other educational programs for the families of these students as well as remedial education, tutoring, mentioning, limited English proficiency programs, counseling programs, character education programs and leadership skills training. "These programs enhance the services that schools provide during the traditional school day," said a spokesperson in a press release. "Students who are struggling in class can get a real academic boost in a well-run after-school setting."

Past year recipients include 14 school districts, two community-based organizations, five faith-based organizations, two nationally affiliated nonprofit agencies and one daycare center.

For more information about this program and whether or not your program meets the eligibility requirements, you can visit the website for more information.

Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2313774940337283935.post-58581796222236952162012-11-13T19:39:00.001-05:002012-11-13T19:39:40.274-05:00Question: I'm Just Starting My Daycare And Where Can I Find Grants For My Daycare?

I am in the process of opening a licensed daycare center in Indiana & I will be serving low-income children, special needs, and diverse races, and also I will be operating 24 hours a day. I am in the start up phase (buisness plan), and have found location, ect. Population is 45,000 with only 458 slots available in licensed child care facilities or homes, but almost 1800+ pre-kindergarten children not counting school age, and all dayshift care. There are 2 questions in which I have. The first is I am struggling on my structure- for profit, or not for profit. I think I am leaning to not for profit, due to this is a need of the community, and I am happy just with a salary. Which has more funding available? The next is where can I find grants for this endevor. I want to be able to serve about 107 children (per shift if needed), so as you can see, this is a costly adventure.

Thank you for your email.

It is my honest opinion that you should make your daycare a combination of both profit and non-profit. It is something that a lot of non-profits have been doing lately and it gives you the best of both worlds in that you will still be eligible for funding for both profit and non-profit endeavors of your daycare. This also answers the question of which has more funding available because you will be eligible for both categories.

You should not rule out operating as a for-profit daycare only because I know that there have been those who have made a lot of money from the government grants that they have gotten for their for-profit daycare business. My last daycare-related client got over 10 pages of information about grant programs that their for-profit daycare was eligible to apply for!

Now since you are just starting your daycare you should also realize that a portion of the information that I have sent to the above-mentioned client also included information for start-up for-profit daycares - so you should be glad to know that such grant programs exist for startups. You should read both my Grant Basics 101 Blog to find out more about the daycare-related grant programs for daycare start-ups.

In answer to your 2nd question you have to understand that since you are not a client you will have to find this information yourself. Finding available grant programs and doing grant research involves a lot of work but it is something that can be done by a non-professional like yourself. All you have to do is invest your time and effort and you should be able to find some grant programs that you are eligible to apply for.

Rose

Grant Basics 101

Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2313774940337283935.post-55439638522713414112012-08-15T13:57:00.001-04:002012-08-15T21:07:04.146-04:00"Where Do I Find Grants Available?"
One woman is living her dream of having her own daycare business!

"I love kids, I don't know what else to say other than that, I've always loved kids," she said.

Just a few years ago she was homeless herself just after getting a divorce and with her having 3 kids to take care of. Now she provides a "home away from home" for other kids!

The woman participated in a program that helps working families to save money to secure a better financial future. She just happened to be the first graduate of the program, which is funded with grants from an organization that builds partnerships to tackle community issues.

Program participants attend financial planning classes and are required to save a certain amount of money over two years. When participants reach their savings goal, the program will match their money. They can earn up to $6,000 to buy a home, pay for school or open a small business just like the woman mentioned in this article.

The woman used her grant money to buy toys and equipment for her daycare which she opened last year.

She is licensed for eight kids and hopes to grow her business.

Ten low income working families are currently in enrolled in this grant program, but the program leaders said they are ready to enroll more.

To find out if you qualify for this program you can attend the orientation meeting. To find out more about this program just click here.

Nineteen child care centers were provided financial aid under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

These grants were intended to improve the centers' indoor and outdoor health and safety conditions and to procure educational materials.

It has been reported that eight child care centers received a maximum of $2,000 each to eliminate unsanitary carpeting and replace them with easy-to-clean surfaces. It said any leftover funding went toward educational materials to support the curricula for children.

Seven centers were also provided a maximum of $3,000 each for new playground surfacing and additional shading. Additional funding was used to purchase outdoor toys such as sandboxes and equipment for active play.

Four infant, toddler, and preschool programs also received mini-grants of $1,000 each for the purchase of toys.
The grant will be used to help to improve the daycare's playground. Says the daycare owner, “Our playground will open a whole new door for exploring and learning for our children. Other playground improvements will help children explore their imagination, creativity and learning opportunies. They will plant a small orchard with fruit trees which the children will help grow and harvest. Raised garden beds will be added so that the children can plant, care for and harvest their own plants. The site will include a creek, lots of wildflowers, shade trees and bird feeders to attract different species of birds.

The grant will also be used to have a music center and outdoor art center built.

The grant was applied for and received within the month!

The mission of this grant program is to increase the quality of early care and education programs for children of the state.

The organization assists parents by offering childcare referrals and about quality child care setting information.

The daycare owner also received a $1,500 grant from the same organization to improve materials at her previous location. This organization will also help pay for the education of her employees as well. She must contribute by providing a wage increase and pay employees to study a couple hours a day while they study at home.

The organization that awards the grant also offers more incentives to daycare facilities that take advantage of furthering their education. The are working with the daycare's quality rating and improvement system. This system will improve all aspects of the daycare with education for staff members and funding for materials.

The daycare also wants to get parents involved and will ask them to contribute to the planning and even to the assembling of the playground. The daycare center hopes to have construction on the project begin in a couple weeks.

The daycare is also enlisting the help of a landscaping company for trees and from another company to help with construction.

The answer to this question is Yes!

For instance if you are a minority who has a dream of starting your own business then there is a grant program available that you can apply for. The grant award is $35,000 which is surely enough to be able to at least start your own daycare business.

I have also noted on this blog and my Grant Basics 101 blog about many different grant programs that are out there to help start a daycare business. A lot of these grant programs even allow for those that want to start a daycare business in their own home! There are government, state and even non-governmental grant programs that are available for this.

Anytime you read something that says that there are no grant programs for for-profit daycare businesses that this is wrong. Like I have mentioned many times before I have sent one client over 10 pages worth of grant program information about grant programs that her for-profit daycare business is eligible to apply for so there are definitely grant programs out there for for-profit daycare businesses!Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2313774940337283935.post-85614911416472558282010-12-11T14:23:00.000-05:002010-12-11T14:23:53.706-05:00"Where Can I Get Grants To Start My Own Daycare At Home?"

I’m 25 with 3 kids, where can i get grants to start my own daycare at home? I want to start small, then i guess i’ll grow bigger.I live in New Jersey and I wanted to start to work for myself. Please serious answers only to people who has knowledge about this.

The first place that you should start looking at is your own state's website! They may have some grant programs listed that you may be eligible to apply for.

If you are a minority then there are grant programs that are specifically geared to minorities that want to start their own business! I know of even one such grant that awards over $25,000 to minorities that want to start their own business!

You should also not over look grant programs that are not just daycare-related! I have made previous blog posts about grant programs that are geared to helping improve the community by providing jobs to help better the economy!

There are even grant programs being offered by some individuals for great ideas - so you should look into those kinds of grants as well if your business is going to help improve your area.

You can also find more information about grant programs on my Grant Basics 101 - Daycare page and read about others who have started their own daycare business with grant money.

The basic thing to do is to just get started looking! Over 90% of all grant-related programs I have been able to find online!
Then you might just want to read the excerpt below:

Two area women were seeking votes to open a special needs daycare in their community. In addition to being able to provide childcare this business will also improve the community by employing people in the area.

The 2 women have submitted their plans for their daycare business to an organization which awards grants to people with ideas that will have a positive impact in their community.

The proposed daycare will be a daycare for developmentally delayed children, including staff equipped to handle children with autism and other special needs.

Since one of the women had a son who is autistic she wanted to start the daycare because her own son had been kicked out of five daycares because "the staff didn't know how to handle the disability", she said. She also has said that she was unable to work full-time because of the lack of childcare and the lack of help.

She said that her daycare will offer services that typical child care centers don’t so families with developmentally delayed children can go out to weddings or other events without worrying about what to do with the children.

In order to win the grant the daycare needs to have the most votes out of the dozens of other ideas which are vying for the $250,000 grant by the end of the month. The top two ideas will receive the grant funding.

In order to increase their visibility (and also to increase their number of votes), the women have gone to Facebook and posted fliers informing people to vote for their cause.

Among the list of items that the proposed daycare business plan to spend the grant money on are $40,000 for the building and renovations, $35,000 for tuition and daycare-related scholarships for scholarship assistance to the school and $30,000 for specialized therapist wages.

These awards represent the second round of that state's daycare grant program.

Approximately $40,000 of the $500,000 allocated by the Legislature for this program remains and will be available for grants supporting business and technical plans only on a first-come-first-served basis. An application will be available on the website until funds are gone.

According to a spokesperson, "This program is intended to increase the availability of high-quality childcare programs in the state and, in addition, to help daycares improve their business planning and stability.

“Finding quality daycare is a top concern for working parents. Interest in this program has been strong and we’re pleased that we were able to assist facilities working to meet the demand throughout our state, in both small and large communities.”
All total, the childcare grant program has provided $460,000 in grants to 157 day cares in 61 communities statewide, supporting 1,075 new day care openings.Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2313774940337283935.post-54034841881919286682010-09-08T17:47:00.004-04:002010-09-08T18:01:03.992-04:00"Where can i get grants for a home daycare business in california?"

"Where can i get grants for a home daycare business in california?"

There are many things that you have not mentioned here. Will your daycare business be a for-profit, non-profit or a combination of both?

One of the things that you can do is to go to the official government grant site where you will be able to see a list of their grant programs and you will not have to pay a fee to do so!

You can also take a look at some examples of grants for daycare businesses by going to my Grant Basics 101 - Daycare Website.

Besides government grants you should also look for grant programs being offered by other entities as well! For example if you are a minority looking for grant programs to help start your own business then you should be made aware that there is at least one grant program that is open to minorities that want to start their own business. One of the requirements (besides being a minority) is that you will also have to submit a business plan.

This grant program awards about $30,000 in grant money for those that want to start their own business!

You should also check your own state website to see if they have any grant programs available for daycares.

Also be sure to remember that grant money is free money - which means that it does not have to be paid back!Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2313774940337283935.post-56017993126245304542010-07-12T19:19:00.002-04:002010-07-12T19:40:56.801-04:00(Another) State Grant Program For Daycares!

There is a grant program that is being funded through one state's Department of Human Services. The grant was created to help improve the quality and expand the services of home-based, center-based and school age child care programs throughout the state.

One of the requirements is to attend a training session on how to get it.

Unfortunately it has been found that most daycare providers have had little to no experience writing for a grant. Grant writing can be overwhelming for people.

According to a spokesperson for the grant program, “Once we realized what we were going to do, it worked out perfect. We listened to what (the daycare provider) needed. One lady had a leaking roof or maybe another needed play equipment for children.”

A total of $30,000 in grant funding became available through the program's efforts in training the providers to write for the grant. So far 17 daycare / childcare providers have benefitted from this grant program.

For one daycare provider not only will she get a fence for her property, but a contracter contacted her and called about installing the fencing, donating his time and some material to help the woman and the children in her home. The concrete pad was finished last week, and a new back deck has been recently completed. The daycare's new fencing will be arriving soon.

You can find out more about this grant program by visiting the organization's website.

You can also download a .pdf file of their application by visiting their website as well.

Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07718681158885022825noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2313774940337283935.post-29363057166711406712010-06-15T16:23:00.002-04:002010-06-15T16:32:49.691-04:00Additional Grant Funding In Canada For Daycares!

In a certain area in Canada $5 Million Dollars has been invested to make child care more affordable for hundreds of low-income families.

For one single mother the funding means that the monthly bill for her three-year-old son will decrease.

The $5 million translates into 400 new child-care subsidies, a new grant for child-care providers for staff salaries and benefits, professional growth, general operating expenses and the elimination of a fee for families, saving those with subsidies up to $1 a day.

The 400 subsidies are available to qualifying families. That brings the total number of subsidies created to 1,100.

The newly announced 400 new subsidized spaces can be used for for-profit as well as not-for-profit centers.
