Two Women Submit Their Daycare Business Proposal To Receive A Grant!

Do you have an idea that will have a positive impact in your community? Then you might just want to read the excerpt below:

Two area women were seeking votes to open a special needs daycare in their community. In addition to being able to provide childcare this business will also improve the community by employing people in the area.

The 2 women have submitted their plans for their daycare business to an organization which awards grants to people with ideas that will have a positive impact in their community.

The proposed daycare will be a daycare for developmentally delayed children, including staff equipped to handle children with autism and other special needs.

Since one of the women had a son who is autistic she wanted to start the daycare because her own son had been kicked out of five daycares because "the staff didn't know how to handle the disability", she said. She also has said that she was unable to work full-time because of the lack of childcare and the lack of help.

She said that her daycare will offer services that typical child care centers don’t so families with developmentally delayed children can go out to weddings or other events without worrying about what to do with the children.

In order to win the grant the daycare needs to have the most votes out of the dozens of other ideas which are vying for the $250,000 grant by the end of the month. The top two ideas will receive the grant funding.

In order to increase their visibility (and also to increase their number of votes), the women have gone to Facebook and posted fliers informing people to vote for their cause.

Among the list of items that the proposed daycare business plan to spend the grant money on are $40,000 for the building and renovations, $35,000 for tuition and daycare-related scholarships for scholarship assistance to the school and $30,000 for specialized therapist wages.

If you would like to vote for this worthy cause you can go to the organization's website by clicking here.

If you would like to submit your own idea to be considered for the grant you can also click the link above to go to that organization's website.

State Announces 2nd Round Of Daycare Grants!

One state has announced that 65 of their daycare providers have been selected for grants to support expansion, infrastructure improvements and business planning in their daycare operations!

These awards represent the second round of that state's daycare grant program.

Approximately $40,000 of the $500,000 allocated by the Legislature for this program remains and will be available for grants supporting business and technical plans only on a first-come-first-served basis. An application will be available on the website until funds are gone.

According to a spokesperson, "This program is intended to increase the availability of high-quality childcare programs in the state and, in addition, to help daycares improve their business planning and stability.

The grant winners were chosen from a total of 147 applicants based on the following priorities:

  • Funding for technical assistance and business plans.

  • Daycare startup or expansion safety equipment such as egress windows and fencing.

  • Special needs equipment suitable for daycares that serve children with disabilities.

"Where can i get grants for a home daycare business in california?"

"Where can i get grants for a home daycare business in california?"

There are many things that you have not mentioned here. Will your daycare business be a for-profit, non-profit or a combination of both?

One of the things that you can do is to go to the official government grant site where you will be able to see a list of their grant programs and you will not have to pay a fee to do so!

You can also take a look at some examples of grants for daycare businesses by going to my Grant Basics 101 - Daycare Website.

Besides government grants you should also look for grant programs being offered by other entities as well! For example if you are a minority looking for grant programs to help start your own business then you should be made aware that there is at least one grant program that is open to minorities that want to start their own business. One of the requirements (besides being a minority) is that you will also have to submit a business plan.

This grant program awards about $30,000 in grant money for those that want to start their own business!

You should also check your own state website to see if they have any grant programs available for daycares.

Also be sure to remember that grant money is free money - which means that it does not have to be paid back!

(Another) State Grant Program For Daycares!

There is a grant program that is being funded through one state's Department of Human Services. The grant was created to help improve the quality and expand the services of home-based, center-based and school age child care programs throughout the state.

One of the requirements is to attend a training session on how to get it.

Unfortunately it has been found that most daycare providers have had little to no experience writing for a grant. Grant writing can be overwhelming for people.

According to a spokesperson for the grant program, “Once we realized what we were going to do, it worked out perfect. We listened to what (the daycare provider) needed. One lady had a leaking roof or maybe another needed play equipment for children.

A total of $30,000 in grant funding became available through the program's efforts in training the providers to write for the grant. So far 17 daycare / childcare providers have benefitted from this grant program.

For one daycare provider not only will she get a fence for her property, but a contracter contacted her and called about installing the fencing, donating his time and some material to help the woman and the children in her home. The concrete pad was finished last week, and a new back deck has been recently completed. The daycare's new fencing will be arriving soon.

You can find out more about this grant program by visiting the organization's website.

You can also download a .pdf file of their application by visiting their website as well.

Additional Grant Funding In Canada For Daycares!

In a certain area in Canada $5 Million Dollars has been invested to make child care more affordable for hundreds of low-income families.

For one single mother the funding means that the monthly bill for her three-year-old son will decrease.

The $5 million translates into 400 new child-care subsidies, a new grant for child-care providers for staff salaries and benefits, professional growth, general operating expenses and the elimination of a fee for families, saving those with subsidies up to $1 a day.

The 400 subsidies are available to qualifying families. That brings the total number of subsidies created to 1,100.

The newly announced 400 new subsidized spaces can be used for for-profit as well as not-for-profit centers. The grant process for the child-care providers has also been simplified.
